I&#039;m quite amazed at all the chatter this has brought to the blogosphere (I just saw Desipundit&#039;s round-up of some of the blog posts and comments about this issue).

I see your point about the negative stereotypes, but that&#039;s the whole point isn&#039;t it? Aren&#039;t all the characters stereotypes? Yes, the accent is inaccurate, and the character is two-dimensional, but.....it&#039;s a cartoon (one of the definitions of which - from Webster&#039;s dictionary- is &quot;a ludicrously simplistic, unrealistic, or one-dimensional portrayal&quot;.

Maybe I&#039;m not analyzing this intellectually enough, but I just don&#039;t understand why people are offended.  I seriously doubt this is going to take us back to &quot;Jim Crow&#039;s America&quot;, as Manish thinks it will.

If it weren&#039;t for parodying stereotypes in all their glorious forms, we&#039;d have no humor. And I wouldn&#039;t like that other show - Family Guy - as much as I do.
