Bambaiyya on Metroblogging Mumbai

Posted at 12:04 PM, August 22, 2006 · 2 Comments

Folks, Bambaiyya was featured on Metroblogging Mumbai yesterday (well, yesterday in India, today in the US). Thanks to the folks at MM, and also to Gaurav for posting it there as well as on his blog.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Bambaiyya is a user-contributed dictionary of Bombay slang, along the lines of the Urban Dictionary. Go to the Bambaiyya page on this blog for more details (the ‘Bambaiyya’ tab at the top of this blog). Or if you have the stomach for it, go straight to the blog itself.

Go ahead, add a word!

Thank you for that very interesting blog. At least I got to learn a few words today. Not english words I suppose. I will try to visit the link you’ve suggested and learn more from it!

Very interesting dictionary, but would it be possible to detail the root/source of the word and if they are used as part of the English lexicon?

    Thanks again
